Say you are the driver... it's your car, your gas... if you on a trip with a group of people, and for some reason you got a parking ticket, do you think the incurring cost should be split amongst the passengers, or solely the responsibility of the driver?

In response to one comment, we as a group agreed to park there... however none of us checked whether we could park there. We just assumed because it was a Sunday and it appeared to be street parking.

Legally, it is the responsibility of the driver. However, you are paying for the insurance, wear and tear on your vehicle (inside and out), and a trip will hasten the time for oil change, maintenace.

If the group doesn't offer to help defray the cost, then I would take a different group next time. I do not think it would be appropriate to "ask" for them to help. But I think they should help pay.

Well a parking ticket is your fault so i think you should pay unless someone offers to help you out with the cost. Now if it were gas you were going to pay for then ask for money from people you are driving around.

Did they know that you are parking at the wrong spot? I mean, did they know and agreed to park there despite the fact of violation? Did you agree as a group to risk it and park there? If no, then you have to pay!

It's how you all agree to split the costs, if you agree to do so at all. A parking ticket is on you, buddy.
