What's your understanding of the song's lyrics? What is the song really about?

The woman was obviously in love 'head over heels' and as far as she was concerned the relationship was great and they got along fine 'We would always play with sticks...'

But then out of nowhere he 'shot' her down which in my eyes means, out of the blue, he did something to completely ruin the relationship, her perception of him as a person and she felt 'devastated' and felt 'disbelief'

Which is why the words 'my baby shot me down' are repeated throughout the whole of the song - as if she is trying to drill the situation into her own head as she cannot get around the shock of what this guy has done to her.

Hope I helped xx

It's a love song by Sonny and Cher."Shot down" meant put down, not as being shot with a gun...The song is very simple to understand. But maybe it's too dated for a younger person. It's not about violence...

You all have it wrong. This song is actually about her and her older brother playing cowboys and Indians as children, and he would always shoot her and then molest her. She was in love with her brother but also upset over the wrongness of incestual love. Their relationship continued as they grew older, and even when he died, she was still in love with him, even though she knew they shouldn't have loved each other in that way. This has nothing to do with Bonnie and Clyde or some neighborhood friend. It's about her BROTHER!

a boy and a girl that know each other since they were kids, they grow up and fall in love, and the bang bang I don´t remember what it comes for.

Metaphor for getting chucked after innocent loyalty over a long period of years. Kind of extended metaphor thing.
