How much of your personal info is transmitted to web sights , blogs , etc... when you visit them ? Security software is supposed to keep the monsters out , but when you visit sights without regestering , is anything being sent like your IP # or other info ? Just curious ...

your ip address, browser info, operating system info.(type,version.no etc) screen resolution etc are transmitted to websites.

I do not think firewalls in general hide ip. Some so called anonymous proxy servers can be used to hide your ip/details from the website you are visiting, but then, the details can be logged on the server running the anonymous proxy server.

it is a good idea to read through the privacy policy pages on websites (this can be found on most of the standard websites)

YOU need to take charge

Disable Yahoo beacon
Diable Cookies (or keep deleting them)
Disable Macromedia PIE (this is the one most people don't know about and is worse than cookies)
Run an anti-spyware program
and get a firewall the hides your IP address

Otherwise everything is out in the open on the Internet. They can see what they are configured to see.

Yep, if I can see your IP address, like on Limewire ect, I can track you to where you live, I can examine your hard drive, depending on what type of firewall you have.
So get protected...............lol
