There's a lot of sugar in alcohol. Just.. not in 'sugar' form that we generally think of it.

But, you don't really "get" diabetes like that. In old age, some people develop "type II" diabetes... which ..tends to be a side effect of serious obesity, etc.

Alcohol and toxins and sugar (too much soda/candy) can take a while for your body to recover from. It's probably something else.

..but as a rule of thumb, diabetes problems revolve around sugars and carbohydrates in food (as well as starch). Low carb stuff will be better for diabetics to control.
Blood test will tell you, but the issue of diabetes has to do with the function of the pancreas ...specifically insulin production. I'm pretty sure they don't know what exactly causes it.. though it is partly genetic
best of luck-

You can't get diabetes from drinking beer. However if you have high sugar and drink it can make your sugar levels go higher. People with diabetes don't drink beer, wine or coolers because there are so many carbs in the drinks. After years and years of drinking it can cause may health problems. Your spline is affect by drinking and without the spline you will become diabetic. If you have high sugar or diabetes and you want to drink try vodka or rum. Something with NO SUGARS in them. It's not always about the sugar it's the carbs that gets ya.
*** Mix liquor with water or diet soft drinks ***

Alcohol is converted to sugar in the liver. Additionally, alcohol has more calories per gram than protein, sugar, starch or even fat. Excessive alcohol intake definitely contributes to weight problems, which are the number one non-genetic risk factor with regard to diabetes.

Beer is not a good thing to drink if you have diabetes. It does contain sugar.
