Saw it...loved it...and yes I did "get it." The movie is Orwellian by nature; if you heard of the book 1984 then this is a comic series rip on that with an Alan Moore take....Alan Moore is the writer of the comic book series this movie was based upon and would be recommended reading if you have a serious need to know what was happening.
For a short synopsis...
V was a creation of a government program on Britain to make a virus. That virus was loosed by the government on its own people to put the dictatorship into power that held sway over its people with right wing religious conservatism (read fantic imperial tyranny.) V was determined to put things right while getting his revenge along the way. Evy was mistaken drawn into V plan and became the one hint of compassion that the man on a Vendetta had...and paved the way for his actions to become heroic...

I saw V for Vendetta on DVD. I liked it. It was pretty different, but I was able to understand it. Basically, V wanted everyone to see how the government was controlling their lives. He wanted everyone to stand up for their rights. He blew up the building because it symbolized the controlling government.

yes cubed and I really loved it. laugh out loud funny. when he opens with all those v's it was gotta get the dvd and turn on the subtitles. very literate film --- lot's of literary allusions --- especially to shakespeare directly quoted in the film, as well as the above mentioned orwellian/huxley delights. written during thatcher's reign over great britain I gathered from the "making of" so don't think it's from the way back machine there, sherman. big smile. WATCH IT!

Yes to all three! I saw it, I liked it, and I understood all too well the connections between the governmental regime in the movie and our own situation today.

Yes, it was really good. It was one of those movies that I pick up something small everytime I watch it. Really good, and I usually don't even like those types of movies.
