Awww, how nice...I see Big Pharma is here on the Yahoo! Answers boards disseminating anti-herbal propaganda, just like those bogus "studies" that were payed for by the drug companies that came out a few years ago, stating that "St. John's Wort found to be ineffective in treating depression"........
The Truth: St. John's Wart, or Hypericum perforatum is a Serotonin precursor and has been used by many peoples for thousands of years as an effective mood stabilizer, i.e. an anti-depressant...It IS effective, I've used it (myself a depressive) and I can tell you that it DOES work...Is it as effective as prescription anti-depressent drugs?...Of course not, but who wants addiction and the numerous unwanted side effects???...Now on the other hand, since every person is different, and what might work for me may or may not work for you, or could even work more effectively for you, it IS possible that St. John's Wort may work as well for you as prescription SSRI anti-depressants...
Everyone is different...experiment...at the time of this writing, the Federal Death Administration (FDA) hasn't banned the use of St. John's Wort...There are MANY companies which offer MANY different SJW products...I reccommend using only certified organic SJW, and preferrably in whole herbal form (the SJW teas work wonders), though SJW supplements are purportedly also effective...
Here is a good link to a group of SJW users/advocates...You can access their forums and talk to other depressives/SJW users, and also discuss other OTC and all-natural methods of treating depression...http://www.sjwinfo.org/

I tried it and my already low blood pressure bottomed out. That doesn't mean it doesn't work -- it's far more common in Europe for mild depression than Prozac and its friends.
Always check with your doctor first, if you have any other conditions or are taking any medications. Just because SJW is an herbal available without a prescription doesn't mean it's harmless or won't interact with drugs.

I tried it without results. Now take EffexorXR. That works very well, but almost impossible to stop taking.
