I'm reading 'the power of positive thinking' and wondering if anyone here feels or knows whether a positive mental attitude 'influences' events in the physical world as the book claims..

thanks ;)

Yes, yes, yes! Is that positive enough? LOL! Seriously, I absolutely do and I find that I can actually change my negative thinking, whenever I catch myself doing it unconsciously, and turn it around to make it something positive instead.

Try reading also the Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer, and Ask and It Is Given by Jerry and Esther Hicks for more on the power of attraction. It is powerful stuff! I definitely believe in it and practice it in my daily life. Bad things rarely happen to me and when they do I can turn it into a positive, every time.

Great book you're reading by the way, I have read that one also.

It does, very true.. Its hard to explain.. The world is, wether your beilieve it or not, is surrounded by energy.. Dorment or active it is there.. Its kind of like when people say they get a wierd "vibe" from someone, its actually quite true.. Because that energy emitting from the individual is not agreeing with the energies of the associated party.. Thats where positive thinking comes in... when your positive your happy right? Happines releases different chemicals in your body that a negative thinker would.. And these chemicals, which are not strictly internal, float outside of the body into the world's never ending sea of energy... Aside from that, negative thinking impairs your judgement and leads you to other things that may be unplesant.. Positive attitudes bring you what you want.. Im not telling you to be walking around telling everyone you love them, just that when the time occurs, decide wether anger is appropriate for the event.. Anger is also good to, left to fester inside, anger will destroy you(talking from experience) just remain balanced with your emotions and you should do fine..

Maybe the secret is in the fact that if you think positively, you are more open-minded,and people accept your suggestions more willingly...And also, when you think positively, you rather go out, talk to people, find a lover, and all those things bring you another amount of positive energy.Depression is a lack of nor-epinephrine on the special points of the brain;when you cheer up,you have nor-epinephrine just enough for action.

Simply, yes.

Your mind has tremendous abilities. A PMA reflects in all you do just like a negative one puts a damper on everything you do in that state of mind.

Being positive or negative is habit-forming and leads to steaks or ruts. As hard as it is, you must take control over your attitude and thoughts, as they can become quite distorted. The hard part is learning how to do that. It just comes with persistence and focusing on your goal: being positive.

I think trying to sincerely, objectively do our best is what will help positive thinking and the physical world because they all go together and effect each other emotionally with our expectations and emotional state (subconsciously) and with our internal duologue or thought process (consciously) and how all that changes how we make our way though the physical world (actual reality).

Positive thinking can change the way the thinker reacts and therefore how things turn out.

If you think you can or you think you can't - you're probably right.

But, if you mean can positive thinking effect the physical world, for example the weather - then no, except in so far as it effects the way one reacts to them.

I don't think it happens in any magical, mystical way, but I do think the power of belief and self-belief is so deep and subtle that it's understandable why people mistake it for a magical force. But you don't have to believe in "energy" or "vibes" to recognize that people are capable of picking up on imperceptibly small social cues. And given how much power other people have over our lives, I think it's reasonable to suppose that a change in one's inner outlook can have a dramatic effect on one's outer life.

Make sense?

Yeah it does.
The thing is that bad things will happen no matter what[1].
However, positive attitude will keep you going to try again and again until you succeed.
If you have negative attitude you will give after the first failure and will never get anything done.

I tend to think so. I don't think it's any kind of magical thing. I just think than when you are in a positive frame of mind, you are more on the alert for good things, and good situations. It's like you make your own good luck.

I think the opposite is true. I was always very negative about everything, and my life showed it. It's like I DREW negative and destructive things to me.

Not only does positive thinking help you in an everyday situation but it also effects your health. Your mind is an amazing thing and nobody yet knows how it works. I know for a fact it has been instrumental in my best friends health.
