I'm looking for a good cell phone carrier that has good coverage nationwide. How good would you say T-Mobile is? Right now I have Verizon, and it has the best coverage nationwide, but it has crappy packages.

before deciding to switch carriers do some research. Ask everyone you know if their carrier is good in your area. Then go to the following websites and make a decision based on that. http://www.cellreception.com and http://www.deadcellzones.com

I had T-mobile and switched to Verizon.

My first problem with T-mobile is that it said it provided coverage in my area but in very small print the agreement said that just because they say they provide coverage doesn't mean that they provide coverage within the entire area. I was responsible for determining whether coverage was adequate but I left for vacation and when I got back, since I had never had a cell phone I had no idea I had a coverage issue. They said I had to pay $200 because I only had three days to determine if I had coverage. I called the help line numerous times but because there wasn't coverage, the calls were often terminated. For the rest of the calls, I was connected to people who had no idea what was going on. I told T-Mobile that I was going to terminate service and told them that I wouldn't pay the $200 fee. They were going to put it on my credit report. I ended up temporarily suspending service. They knew they didn't have cell towers in my area but they never told me that. Every T-mobile kiosk I walked by I told them how lousy the service was. One day a guy pulled a memo out of the garbage that announced where the new cell towers were and there were two new ones in my neighborhood. I reactivated my service and this time the cell phone service was okay. But I got a bill for $700 that kept me up all night because somehow they screwed up my payment plan.

As soon as I could I switched to Verizon. The only problem I have had is that I've lost calls while driving on the highway. The towers are a bit too far apart. But I can call friends for free, so I get something like 800 minutes for $40 per month.

For me T-Mobile and Verizon are a tie for first.

T-Mobile: More bang for your buck. Cheaper plans with more minutes. GREAT customer service. Usually only a 1 year contract. Cell phone coverage is 2nd best to Verizon.

Verizon: Best cell phone coverage in the US, but more expensive.

I just switched from T-Mobile............. trust me, stay with Verizon. I would try to call hubby on his cell from work, which was like only 5 miles away from home and the calls constantly dropped. I kid you not, in one day I seriously had like 16 dropped calls, and alot of then were while I was doing something for work, not just social calls!..........Stay with Verizon.

most cell phone are pretty good as for dropped calls well that the providers fault not enough towers as for europe they work really good because every 3 miles there's a tower opposed to 6 for the states

They stink in the USA - They are great if you spend alot of time in Asia or Europe as the phone works great over there. Remeber they are a German company and use the GSM technology that is not as well spread out in the USA yet.

Tmobile only has reception in the top fifty cities. Verizon has reception in the top 98. There is a big differance. However if you live in one of those big cities, life should be fine for you.
