Place it in a ziplock bag, I have done this for my children it works I use the snack bags but the ones with the zippers close the best.You can also wrap the tip in a little foil before placing it in the bag, this is the best way it keeps it from leaking in the bag.

Find a top. I've found that if you have a dried up marker, you can temporarily revive it by poping off the back end and moistening it, so I guess if you kept it moist it'd be okay. Maybe wrap it in plastic?

Take a top from another marker that you don't use. Or, put it in a zip lock plastic bag.

DUCK TAPE. Fixes everything. Just fold a piece over the end and make it airtight. Or you could just buy a new marker because that is the easiest solution other than duck tape. Ah, duck tape ......
