The reason that the moon is pretty much a uniform gray and not all of the
colours that we see on earth is due to the absence of a significant
atmosphere and living organisms. There is no oxygen floating around so
iron doesn't rust - no browns. There aren't any oceans or sky, so the
blue colours are missing. And no plants means no greens. On top of this,
everything is coated in dust and small particles tend to appear gray in
colour. It is not uniform in colour, which is why the moon's surface
appears to be "splotchy" but it is various shades of gray in colour.

The moon has a fairly uniform composition, due to the fact it is not geologially active (no volcanoes to stir the inside) and no water to leach the rocks and concentrate minerals.
On earth, the reds and the greens are mostly the result of biological and geological actions, and the blue is caused by the scatterring of light by water and air, two substances that are mission on the moon.
Further, in the absence of erosion to wash them away, moon dust covers about everything. This dust is the result of meteorites hitting the moon and being pulverized. Moon dust is like fine sand, and essentially uniform in colour. Hence the rather drab look of the moon.

The surface of the moon has been covered with the blasted remains of the rocks it is made of. For billions of years meteorites have impacted the Moon, showering the surface with dust. Ordinary Moon rocks are light in color. When broken or pulverized they appear dirty grey.

the moon reflects the sun light and our atmosphere has an effect on it...the light from the moon oft has color when the atmosphere has a lot of dust..

because the light on the sun only shines on part of it, the gray is the area the sun doesn't reaches. there can't be color because for color tyo exist, there must be LIGHT.
