Weight training is good for developing your musculature, which will help burn fat. Cardiovascular exercise is also good for you, so keep it up with the treadmill! You should also evaluate your diet and make healthful food choices whenever possible.

As far as your abdominal region, make sure it is benefiting from your weight training. The biggest mistake men make is not contracting their abdominal muscles by pulling them inward when they do crunches. If you do crunches with your abs pushed outward they will develop that way. You want to draw them inward and develop the muscles that way.

Good luck!

Weights may not help you loose weight but will slim you down and make you more toned and fit. When lifting weights you are excersizing and building the muscles and burning fat.. but muscle weighs more than fat. So don't expect to loose much weight lifting weight, however it WILL make you look better.

to lose weight effectively, you need healthy eating habits + cardio+ weight resistance training. get into a good cardio regimen first. after about a month, add your weight lifting and resistance training. eat a healthy diet that includes plenty of brightly colored, high fiber fruits, berries, vegies, and nuts, soy products, low/non fat dairy products, lean proteins such as fish, chicken, lean ham and turkey and beans. eat 3 moderate meals a day and 3 reasonable snacks a day and make sure to drink plenty of water and green tea. eat as naturally as you can. as you progress with changing your eating and exercise habits, you will start to shed the extra fat and build lean muscle revving up your metabolism. you will have more energy. good luck

You can slim down and bulk up at the same time, but the weight loss may be slow in showing because muscle weighs more than fat. So, if you decrease your fat and increase you muscle mass, you may not lose weight but you body shape will change.

going to the gym won't really help. you gotta change ur lifestyle. limit the amount of junk u eat per day(if any) u must folow the food pyramid. and work out, at first you might gain weight , but this weight u gain isn't bad, cuz it is muscle .
the ultimate formula for weight is:
lossing= burn more colories than u eat per day
gaining= burn less colories than u eat per day
stay the same= burn the same amount of colories as u eat.

and people pay lots and lots of money just to get that.
it is n't just about the weight, but how fit u are, are u in good shape, are u "healthy"good luck:p
