compare to other processors? If you could, give me a list in order of processors from best to worse, so I will know how mine stacks up to others. Your help is greatly appreciated.

No, it doesn't really matter. It's just that my computer is new and it seems that it is extremely slow. I am just wondering if I made a mistake in my purchase.

Computer Slow

Download and then run startup.exe (FREEWARE) at:

http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml......

Can't live without it and windows...

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.

Other things to try:

1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.)
2 - Defrag
3 - Registry Cleanup (CAN BE VERY RISKY!)

FROM A HARDWARE PERSPECTIVE THE BEST AND MOST COST EFFECTIVE POSSIBLE UPGRADE (IN GENERAL) IS THE ADDITION OF MORE MEMORY (RAM).

ALL ELSE FAILS - RELOAD YOUR O/S (WINDOWS) AND THEN REINSTALL ALL OTHER PROGRAMS YOU NEED/USE!

Pentium D processors are below Pentium 4's but above Celeron's and pentium 3's. Different makes can actualy be the same as another named processor...but that all depends on when the processor was made. So you will need to just figure out how much cache the processor has and what the clock speed is...and all of that rides on how many cores it has....so I really can't answer your question too acurately based on the info given. But I ask you this, does it really matter?

Define slow. Slow in surfing the Internet or slow in playing games? Your Pentium D should be able to do both quite well. There may be other factors involved in what you think of as slow (not enough memory, spyware, viruses, etc). Need more information as to your specific 'slowness'.

well..u can really see the performance when ur computer is doin many demanding things..from wt i know..the pentium d is the last pentium series..they are movin on to the later core 2 duo..but i guess u can consider ur pc to be quite powerful..having a hi clock speed of 3.73Ghz and dual core..any one care to edit wt i say?..but it also depends on ur other hardware such as ram, gpu(for games),++..but from wt i know..AMD is better..but the core 2 is better than AMD..

I have a dual core, and I honestly can not see any difference!
