I have no problem with other races or cultures, but when I called Yahoo Travel about a problem, I got two different people with heavy Indian accents (from India I gather) to talk me through the problem. I could barely understand what they were saying and it only added to my frusteration? So, my question is... what is up with this? Does anyone else feel a tad uncomfortable with revealing information to someone you can barely understand?

I've had that problem with other companies! It's really hard to understand people from India and they just don't seem to get it that their accent is very thick and garbled. I don't mean to sound insensitive.
When I have that problem now, I don't hesitate to ask to speak to someone else. If they don't like it, or get offended, well... too bad!

Yea, I've been through it. The thing is that some companies have different jobs or branches done in different countries. They are shifted overseas for cheaper pay. That's why you hear a lot of Indian people picking up the phone these days. It is hard to understand them, but I try. I don't think I would be uncomfortable with revealing information to them, I would just worry about understanding them.

Yes, and with most the companys I call, I agree with you that it has nothing to do with race. I believe that if you live in India you should talk to an indian person and if you live in the states you should talk to someone from here. Think how hard it would be for an indian person to understand us.

Maybe next time when u call them, ask for someone who does not have an accent. It's really frustrating when u talk to someone who has a heavy accent.

I don't think you're going to get away from this. If you have difficulty conversing with them verbally, you might try a "chat" and request an e-mail copy of the "conversation."
