You can get pregnant at any time of the month, including when you are ovulating (although the chances are slimmer around the time of your period). Sperm can live for up to 7 days in your body, meaning that even if you can't get pregnant at this very moment, you could in the near future. Use protection, even if you're on the pill, because the pill is not 100% foolproof and does not protect against STDs.

You can have a period--and not have ovulated that month. It happens. But, your dr probably just means to start one full cycle, get things going on the right track...etc. With that in mind--you will ovulate approximately 14 days BEFORE your next period. It is somewhere between 10-16 days. It is called the luteal phase---google it and you will get a better understand of your cycle. And whether your cycle is shorter or longer---your luteal phase will always be the same. It gets confusing---but if you have a 28 day cycle--you ovulate day 14. Which is why everyone alway says to have sex 14 days after your period. However, if you have a 35 day cycle you ovulate day 21. If you have a 24 day cycle you ovulate day 10. So you can be missing the mark. This is why a women who has an irregular period has a hard time getting pregnant---because she ovulates at different times. A big sign you are ovulating is vaginal discharge. With that and the 10-16 day swing--count back 10-16 days and have sex.

You officially ovulate 12-15 days after the first day of your period. You should know when you are ovulating because you should have a gooey clear discharge. Sperm can survive for a good while inside your uterus between 3-7days prior to ovulation. You might experience abdominal discomfort or almost a bloated gassy feeling. Sometimes sex is uncomfortable.

The survival of sperm in cervical mucus, and the uterine and tubal fluid is the subject of debate. It probably varies between individuals. Originally it was thought that the maximum survival was four days but it is now believed that on occasion it may be up to 7 days.

Actual ovulation is only about 48-36 hours.

About 3 days after finishing the Provera, you will get your period. No, you are not ovulating while your on your period, you usually ovulate approximately on day 12-14, that varies...

By the way, what pills are you talking about? Is it Clomid? You should be very careful with that... I waisted a very long time being on clomid and provera.

If you're not currently seeing an RE, I would suggest you see one. An ob/gyn cannot take care of infertility issues, even if she/he acts like they can.

Best of luck to you.

Ovulating is when your body releases an Ovum (egg) to be fertilized. Your period is your body getting rid of the unfertilized ovum and all the stuff on your uterine wall that is there in case the egg were to be fertilized. That is why women get freaked out if they "skip" a period. You can get pregnant before you have your period, and after, but vary rarely during. Ovulation occurs in the middle of your cycle, your period at the end.

You will not ovulate by taking Provera. The first thing you need to do is to have tests done to see if you are ovulating on your own (progesterone levels need to be checked at about day 21-24--first day of bleeding is considered day 1). If you are not ovulating on your own, your doctor may recommend taking Clomid or Serophene.

No the Provera is to kinda jumpstart the process and hopefully your body will ovulate after starting your period. But all the medication does is "start" a period for you.

You ovulate on average 14 days after the START of your period so I would say the best time to get pregnant is 12-16 days after the 1st day of your period GOOD LUCK!!!!!

No way.. that's not stupid! you usually ovulate inbetween your periods like at the middle of the month, but never during. And, if you didn't know this, you sometimes get cramps right before your period, and when you are still ovulating..

well, have fun with your period! jk i hope this helps you! :)
