I understand Mulrooney is living in the US - will Harper learn the lessons of a 2 seat Conservative party and not be a yes man to the US or will he repeat his parties history?
If so will the Americans welcome him as they did Brian?

I think Harper would like to be PM for at least as long as Mulroney was. I don't think Harper has the same interest in business that Mulroney does and he is not a lawyer, so he is unlikley to have the same sort of post-PM career that Mulroney has.

Harper's strategy really depends on who becomes Liberal leader. If Iggy wins then he will have an opponent who is arguably even more pro-American than he is and he will emphasize Iggy's weakness on domestic policy.

If Rae wins then Harper will emphasize the fact that Rae ran Ontario into the ground as premier. Either way Quebecois will wonder why the Liberal party has abandoned their 100 year old+ tradition of anglophone/fracophone leaders, thus Dion is the joker in the pack.

He cannot go quick enough to suit me. He is so far up Bush's butt they are wearing the same tie.
