Well Sweets, you've already done something. You've shown initiative and caring by asking this question.
Help pass the ERA to be an amendment. Women will have to sign up for the draft, but they'll also be able to paid the same as men (currently we're paid less than 26%) , hold postions that we're still not allowed to hold, so on. Keep yourself informed of current events that relate to this issue and learn the past.
Most importantly, it is the little things you do; little things you do with the people around you, not necessarily the entire world. Treat everyone the same, and do not discriminate. Although my guess is that you already do that. :)

Well, you are soooo sweet......
Firstly the "reason" for the subjection of women has always has it's roots in the physical superiority of men , brute force and sheer stupidity too. Double standards exist in societies to keep an unfair status quo in place, the supression of women has immense benefits to those who are holding the leash. In the larger social context, political emancipation is crucial. We've struggled and fought for the right to vote, now i think it's about time that we have an equal gender represantation in high office or parliment. One more thing economic opportunities.
But really at the pratical level, the absolute right of gender equality isn't fully accepted yet wholeheartedly. Post feminism has occured and now out comes the anti feminists, whose spurious objectives are beyond me. Feminism has been debated and argued against to death, that the notion of equality as a noble ideal is no longer held in high regard. Now we have folks claiming the fallacy of equal treatment,by nit picking on "differences" in attributes,... what gives?
What you can do is keep spreading the word around, just treat everyone as you would like to be treated as well in return quite simpy...... and hence reap enormous benefits too buddy,.........
Don't you know ladies love men such as you?

Nothing.
Men and women are not equally and will never be.
It is plain stupid to treat them as equal and will lead to ridiculous results.
For example:
Imagine an employer providing health insurance to his employees. He does not include coverage for pregnancy. When accused of discrimination he defends himself by saying that the coverage for men and women is the same and since men and women are equal it is not discrimination.
Come, on you know as well as anyone that men and women have different bodies and thus different needs -- and therefore treating them "equally" is really ridiculous.

Not necessary. Women and men ARE equal. Different, certainly –Â with different strengths and different weaknesses (on the average, of course) – but all in all, pretty much equal, no matter how hard certain cultures may try to deny it.

try to get the congress to pass a new drafting system. If women really want to be equals, we should have to sign up for the draft too.
