I was recently ticketed for having an out headlight. although this is a maintenace issue, and i was later told that you can not get ticketed for that. just curious.

If you get it fixed within 24 hours they'll squash it

Yes. A headlight out is considered a safety issue, and the police can issue a ticket for any safety violation.

Yes you can but usually they just give you a warning and tell you to get it fixed within a certain amount of time. It could be a safety issue in fog or during the night.

I should just be a warning ticket and then you have 24 hours to fix it or be subject to a fine after that.

Whoever told u that was wrong. After all, if u couldn't be ticketed for it, then the cop wouldn't have issued you a ticket for it.

Heres the deal as simple as it gets. If it won't pass inspection, you can be ticketed. It all has to do w/ safety. Lights out, you can't see or be seen as well as you should be.

Yes, they can. But usually it's an excuse to stop you if they're suspicious of you. It's the sort of thing you can talk your way out of, if you're nice about it.

I think that rule applies every where in the u.s. conneticut isn't a special exception.
