He likes the benefits of what a marriage brings and yet he whats to act and remain single in his actions. He is afraid and selfish. He has what is called having his cake and eating it too. The question should be why does she stay? She could leave as well. It maybe more to it than what you are seeing for the outside looking in. He could be lying about his feelings. Hey it would not be the first time that has happen.

Some people simply can't be monogamous. They want the marriage and the children (or not, in this case) but they also want people on the side too. The "having your cake and eating it too" kind of life. Not everyone is like that, thankfully, but then again there are couples who are okay with this (either they both do or one partner isn't that interested in sex anyway). For many though, it isn't something they know their partner is doing and it is a hugely hurtful thing when they do find out.
I'm guessing this man you know loves her (or is happiest) when he's with his wife, but doesn't feel so entirely fulfilled by this relationship that he feels the need to play around.

Why are you the sly one , really you are looking in ??? are you sure ??? well why do we all stay , no really if you or your man are cheating then why stay, but people stay cause sometimes they have no place to go, or there is some sort of lite in the dark tunnel
but that is your friends problem not yours , so don't get involved,,

It means he still loves his wife but wants something different at the same time. Many times these types of men can't or won't leave their wives because they feel they had too much time invested into the marriage to just leave. Other times they don't want to deal with the hassle of divorce so they just stay.

It could depend on so many different factors. If they have been married for a long time, he may not want to pay alimony. He cares an awful lot about her, so much that he'd rather stay then see her hurt. She has to be the one to leave him.

Its seems to me that its a safe place and he is allowed to do what he wants. If your friend allows that behavior then he would never leave. He might care for her on a emotional level like a parent to a child but not on a physical level. Sometimes people's behavior is hard to understand why poeple live the way they do you might not find any answers to your questions.

For the same reason a lot of men stay in unhappy marriages: they don't want to be taken to the cleaners. It all comes down to money. From a financial standpoint, he has a lot to lose.

Because he can have his cake and eat it too. He likes the security of home..having someone he can take to functions or go out with or have sex with....and then someone on the side to fulfill his needs when she doesn't. It's a win-win situation for him. Too bad the women don't smarten up!
