To be No. 1 this year is impossible. However, I think she can do this in the coming several years.

When she returned back to court, she really prove her ability enough by beating Sharapova. After that, she'd been reached quad. final for several touraments.

However, she still need more times to adjust her tennis styles while against Justin - Henin & Amalie Maursmore. If she can't beat them, she can't reach #1 and grab the gland slam.

US open this year is a little bit hard for her. Maybe next year is a sutiable timing.

She Won't get to #1 this year, she's just re-entering the top 10 this week. She is too far behind in points this year to make it to #1. Winning the US open will be tough for Hingis, I will be rooting for her, but her 2nd serve is a major liability and the top players can take advantage of that. I'd say getting to the semifinals would be a major accomplishment since she has played competitive tennis in three years, I think she has exceeded her own expectations this year. Hingis has had a great year, but more work will be needed by her if she is to get to #1.

Semis at most, and the #1 ranking is above her reach now...May be a top 5 in the years to come.

She doesn't have enough points to earn the number 1 ranking. As for her chances at the U.S. Open, I'd consider her a possibility but only if Henin, Mauresmo, and Sharapova exit early.

world number one ranking will be tough because she has so far to climb. the US Open is also a stretch. could she do it? yes, by all means, she's got tremendous game still, its just with so many pwoer hitters that can tee off on her slow serve, she will have to play amazing tennis to win in New York.
