Let him know that it bothers you and how would he feel if you were hit and killed by a drunk driver? Bottom line, if he doesn't think he has a problem, he can't fix it. Been there, be honest and keep telling him over and over how you feel, but don't be surprised if he doesn't listen.

Show your love and support to your Mom. Call the police with his license number next time. When he kills himself or someone else, everybody will be blaming you and your family for not stopping him! A popular high school senior at my daughter's high school died while drinking and driving last year. He was 16. He killed a 17 year girl driving home to her parents house. It wasn't that late a night, but he had been celebrating at a friend's party and NO ONE took his keys away. They honored his memory at graduation but failed to mention how he died. Do you want this to happen to you and your family?

Where is your mother in all this? You should talk to your dad about his behavior. He might not listen but you should keep at it. Try getting counseling for yourself...plan an intervention. Leave things around telling of the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving. Maybe he might realize what he's doing is wrong...but most of the time it takes something dramatic to make someone stop their destructive behavior....

Reading your story was like reading about myself, I also had a drinking problem for years. I had my wife and kids and thought of no one but my self. One morning I woke up with a bad hangover to the sound of one my daughters crying, she was telling her mom that she was tired of seeing me drunk and seeing us argue about my drinking all the time. She said she wanted to get out of the house rather than see me drunk. She was 13 at the time, but she made me realize what I had become and how much I was hurting her and the rest of my family. It was then I knew if I did'nt stop I was going to lose my family, Well she is 23 now and worships the ground that I walk on,little does she know that it's me who worships her. Son, that's what you and your family have to make your dad see, what he has and what he is going to lose if he keeps drinking. I know it's hard to say " Dad I love you and need you in my life ", but you need to make him realize you are serious and concerned about your family and being happy. Try it, what have you got to lose.

Sadly their probably isn't much that you can do. You could try to tell him how this makes you feel, but if he is being this selfish it might not matter. My dad would always drink and drive, even with us kids in the car. Your dad must already know that he is endangering lives, how could he not? I would just try being brutally honest and telling him how you feel. Lay it all on the line, it could work.

Aside from threatening to call the police, I don't know if there is anything you can do to make him stop drinking while driving. It almost seems as if he will have to learn the hard way. But then, the hard way, might be after he causes his own death or someone else's.
The only other alternative would be to hide his car keys.

The one thing you can do is just ask him why he drinks. There is always a reason to why. The other is that you cant help him till he is able to see that he has a problem and start to help himself. I do know that this is hard having two family members Die from drinking their lives away. I lost my mother and Uncle, so i understand.

well sweet if you feel SO strong about it then print off every bad crash you can find on the web or in the paper then stick them all over the house & in the car. ask him how would he feel if a D/D killed you. tell him how its affecting you & that you want him to stop it. for your sake & for the sake of innocent people out side. tell him if he ever did run over & kill someone YOUR life would be ruined because there family would blame all your family not just him.

You dad is an alcoholic. There is nothing you can do to change him. Al-anon may help you deal with the frustration of having to watch a loved one do something so dangerous.
P.S.
You don't have to give your real name or your dad's name. NO ONE will turn him in for driving.

this is a seriouce question out here:
i want to promote my voice with ya, first i am sorry to hear that
second: you will say nothing cause he will not hear anything from his son, specially he used doing that.
third: i suggest that if he is doing this regularly as you said that you watch him out for his sleeping hours, breakfast, and don't say to him no with your mouth. You can use your eyes while you giving him the beers by your own hands
fourth: he must see a doctor, try to call his brother/syster someone he can listen to, except your living daily family.
fifth: i rank him as an alcholic blood need + regular routine.
YOU CAN PRAY FOR HIM AS WELL STOP SAYING DON'T DO THAT CAUSE A MAN DOESN'T LIKE TO HEAR IT FROM HIS OWN SON KEEP YOUR EYES TALKING TO HIM.
LET US ALL PRAY FOR HIM TO BE SAFE & ALCHOL FREE
Good Luck, don't loose your hope.
