Philosophy touches everything. And, b/c so much of it is ****, so much of the culture is ****. Objectivism answers the fundamentals and would fix much of what ails us -- in a very unconventional manner -- if ever it really caught on.

Just this one thing, sacrifice is evil - reject it in every form. That's pretty unconventional.

Although I was the product of the cold war, and believed in technology, I don't think every solution is a technical one. We do, however, face the issue of rate of energy consumption vs. rate of energy production. I think the world is in real trouble: we live on borrowed time, on the generosity of "fire." We must move beyond fire, or revert to a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. Oil doesn't grow on trees, and we don't seem too motivated to come up with something better (no, cobalt 60 is not the answer). Nuclear power creates waste. In europe it is recycled, but it cannot go on forever. The nutrons produced in the reactors destroy everything in the plant in about two decades; then reclamation of the land, equipment, and real estate is basically impossible. It may be extended to 30 years, but it is not a solution. Hopefully we will find something better.

Thank you for asking that question ...this makes me think of the present way of treating problems ...money gets thrown at them ..I mean ..juveniles if they mess up ..they get individual attention now please think about this ...when a kid that does not mess up how do we as a society reward that good behaviour ..a case and example 2 families ..both have a female parenting alone ..they both have the same income ..A family the children act up and steal from shops what happens ?...they get rewarded with attention from services who will bring them for days out to places they would not normally see as part of socialiseing ...B family do not get into trouble what happens ....nothing ..they learn bad behaviour pays premiums ...now does this make sense ...as parents we are always told to reward good behaviour ..but society does not do that or see that as a priority
