You will probably have some reading to do. BUt I don't think you will have too much. Gerenally the first day is just the professor going over the syllabus and introducing the subject. Dont sweat it.

3-5 hours a night, depending on how many classes you're taking, how academically demanding the school is, and how well you're prepared for it.
You may spend less, you may spend more - but budget your time to have 4 or 5 hours a day dedicated to readings and homework. If you finish early, great, take some time to relax - but don't EVER let yourself fall behind, because catching up is hell!
Two more tips. 1) if you're taking math, engineering or science, try to find classmates to study with so that you can help each other out with problem sets. You learn a lot by explaining your strategies and your doubts to other people and by listening to their explanations, which will be different from the prof's and maybe more understandable. 2) Go to the professor's office hours or see the TA (teaching assistant) if you're struggling to keep up. A question asked sincerely is never "dumb".
Good luck!

sure, you will greater beneficial than possibly get homework on the 1st day. In my math type we've been given homework, or perhaps had a quiz the subsequent type day. In English the classification had an project the 1st day and purely some human beings did the artwork. The project develop into no longer even on the 1st day of sophistication' project the two. notably plenty: professors assume pupils to look merely before the syllabus, and do greater artwork than given customarily. in case you do greater artwork, it is going to benefit you lots.

The professor of each class will give you a syllabus. This will tell you what is expected and when. You will also find out what book or books you will need for the class. If you do not understand what is expected of you be sure and ASK. Good Luck!!!
