Wireless signal is affected differently by different materials.
Wireless signal will travel well through air, glass, most plaster type walls.
Wireless will NOT travel well through cement, cynder block walls, metal, book stacks, ...etc. Also, microwave ovens, and any other 2.4ghz devices can cause interference.
Your best bet is to be within 40 feet.
