That's a really good question, and I wish I knew the answer so I could do more with my life. I am 29, female, been married twice, gone through so many jobs, different types of education, lived around the world and can't seem to find my niche. I'm sorry if my answer has nothing to do with your question but I feel so frustrated and you seem like the most intelligent person on Yahoo right now.
I think everyone has their own reasons for succeeding in life, not everyone does it for recognition. My father, my mother and my sister have all "succeeded" in living their lives right, they are happy and who knows what drives them. I think my father did it out of necessity to provide for his family, my mother "just hates" to sit at home and do nothing, and my sister is the eldest so she probably felt like she had to follow in my father's steps.....
Good Luck in finding answers to the mysteries of the world.....

I think that the need of succeed is a created need, such as MANY others. I personally think, that all people that look for progress have Not got a higher degree of life acceptance, they simply look at life positively and see what comes next, and that in not exactly higher degree of life awareness. That is forgetting to live the moment. They don't care that much about living today, but aim for tomorrow.

Both. But there are other factors aside from the two. Under the sub category Dynamic Psychology, human desire to succeed in life may vary in Motivation. Motivations, drives, may fall into either Psychological or Emotional. Example under psychology, THE CAUSE AND EFFECT. There are people who tend to see end results of things that happened around him which could be negative or non-ideal. This person then thinks he doesn't want that thing to happen to him - CAUSE. Therefore, he strugles in life and do the best of what he can to avoid that unpleasant thing or event to happen to him. This then results to accomplishment, achievements that can already be regarded as success - EFFECT.
A simple example this is. If you are in school or will be going to school this september, try researching on topics under Psychology. Under the Subcategory Dynamic Psychology.
And as to your question of higher degree of life awareness, well for some does and some doesn't. Some merely adhere to their reasons, some to their ability, and some just got lucky.

This sounds like an examination question or the like. Success can be defined in any number of ways. Success in education; success in family life; success in employment .......
Ask an impoverished person if they have the desire to succeed and do better then ask a CEO if they consider themselves as successful. The answers from each would probably surprise you. I believe that it is a genetically inherited trait that all humans have, but few accomplish.

Boy, what a question!! You must have a really big brain!
Some people tend to wonder why they are alive. Even if you do beleive in god, you still can wonder. I think most people just would like to have a perfect life. But different personalities and skills trigger different jobs you are good at. But no matter the job, people want to reach the top of their career. So that they can work short and get paid long. Spend some time with family. I hope this helps!

I would argue that al humans have a drive to excel, but that other priorities may need to be persued sooner. For example, a starving person would sooner find or steal food before seeking self-actualization. A heirarchy of needs develops where base needs are considered and satisfied first, then the securing of those needs, and then luxuries like creative expression, enlightenment, etc. can be considered.

For some it's to receive recognition, for others it's an intrinsic urge, an urge to better oneself and provide more for the offspring than would otherwise be the case.
Most achievers have faith in themselves, a good self esteem and an awareness of what needs to be done. They initiate projects instead of waiting for direction.

Well, oddly enough, those who are accepted and recognized actually live longer than those who aren't.
I'd say that fear is another trait which you have mentioned. As for a higher degree of life awareness, I don't quite understand what you mean.

happiness...
individuals believe that success would add greatly to their happiness; so when someone aims for success, he is actually aiming for happiness.
well, i think all humans want to progress in life, so every personality trait?
not necessarily, wanting to succeed is entirely separate from having an awareness of life...
