I think that 13 is a good age for a cell phone, as long as the girl is responsible enough!

Yes. A 13 year old does not need their own phone. In fact, no child "needs" their own phone. Cell phones can be convenient for parents being able to contact their kids, but they do not need their own phone with unmonitored, unlimited access.

You can get one of thos phones that will only call home or 9-1-1, but otherwise, I think it's too young.
Kids say that they need one for emergency purposes, so get one that will be limited to emergency purposes by design. They would soon have their own definition of what constituted an emergency. Don't most schools ban them by now anyhow?

probably. I only have a cell phone at 13 because I get my older sister's hand-me-downs so they dont get wasted.

It all depends in the need. If you don't need it and just wanna be fashionable than it is the waste of resources. And I will suggest you to give that money to some poor kids in your community or in Africa, whose life will just change because you didn't wasted some resource you have. But if you need it, than you are never young. Enjoy your humanity!

depends on the circumstances
I got a second phone as a "home phone" and my kid claimed it, BUT it never goes to school and is for emergencies only

i dont think so. i think a good way to talk your parents into getting a phone is telling them that its for your safety and your never 2 young to be safe. lol worked for me.
