Definitely.
After all, they were ONCE a drug addict as mentioned by you, meaning they're clean of their habit and now looking for a way to support themselves which is commendable in itself.
I would NOT reveal their past as I feel is unnecessary.
Their performance on the job at hand will "speak" for themselves.
They (drug addicts) too were regular people like you & me, only to be mislead by hanging with the wrong crowd and made some bad choices.
I believe we all deserve a second chance whether you're a drug addict or not.

Yes I would. I am an alcoholic and have been sober for 4 years. I owe my life to my family and friends who never gave up on me dispite all the things I did and said. I would help anyone who had an honest disire to help themselvs. One of the most important things you learn in recovery is that you cant keep it unless you give it away and that is so true. I dont know if you have or had a problem with alcohol or drugs but for those who did know what Im talking about. Good question.

I would definitely mention this. It is a very delicate position for you , i appreciate your apprehensions. But one must be true because of the recommendation. Tell it in a confidential way and still say you are being honest and did not want to hide any fact. It will help. Good luck!

If he/she is cleaned from the drugs, then "yes". And I would tell the potential employer the real truth about this person too.

Everyone falters in life, the most important is that they are able to pick themselves up and move ahead. Of course it will akind gesture to help the person seek employment and its for the person itself on whether he want to reveal his or her past. One should never run another down just because of his or her past

I'd help him/her in his/her job hunting and I'd tell him/her that I'm planning on letting his/her potential employer know of his/her situation stressing rehab. It might be possible that at the end I might not tell anything but at least I'd let my friend/relative think that his/her employer is aware of what's going on,

do you trust him/her? do you think the employer would want to know about his/her drug problem? would the employer trust him/her knowing what you know about the former addict? just some questions to think about.
