If you are looking for a new job and a recruiter asks why are you looking to leave your current position what do you think the best possible answer would be?

Here are several:

Your job description changed.

You want advancement.

You wanted to learn a new career.

Your organization is down sizing.

Never bad mouth your past employer - even if they are worst scum of the earth.

Don't say it was because of office politics.

If you do those two above things they will not be able to get you out the door quick enough. You will look like the one who can't get along with anyone.

That you want to pursue other career opportunities in which you can make better use of your skills to help others, as well as seek more personal growth within a successful company.

looking for more challenge, greater advancement opportunity. NOT "they wouldnt let me log into MySpace 7 1/2 hours a day!" :)

I suggest you level with him. Otherwise, he can probably figure it out and will assume it is worse than it really is. Besides, he will figure out that you choose to not be honest.
