Does a squid have a purpose in life and what is it?

Have you ever done scuba diving. Takes a lot of training and equipment. Even then you can only safely dive to 150 feet.

Squid can go down thousands of feet - no training required - and can stay under all their lives.

Giant squid can inflict mortal wounds on the giant sperm whale.

Daft question really. It's like asking what is the point of a bird, when mankind has spent thousands of years yearning to fly and still can't with all our technology do it anything like as well or as safely as a bird.

And even if the squid is only capable of swimming, eating and procreating, those are all things we all love doing, so that might be purpose enough.

But I am sure there are a hundred other things the squid is good for. We just don't know what they are.

Zoologists know very little about the life history of the squid, especially giant squid. Giant squid have never been filmed in their environment, yet Sperm whales dive to tremendous depths to take them on.

It would be a good idea to do some reading before making bland statements about animals.
