Just so you all don't think I'm an idiot, I'm asking this for a class I'm in, and I want to see how people react. So far only a few people have any idea that humans didn't farm from the beginning. How sad!

If they didn't farm they didn't eat. It is as simple as that really. We have become too use to modern day conveniences. It may be hard to believe but there was a time when grocery stores, shopping malls and fast food restaurants didn't exist. People had harvest there own vegetables and fruits, milk their own cows for milk and slaughter their own animals for food. We are fortunate to live in a time where we don't have to do those things. My mother is from the south and she lived on a farm. When I was younger I always looked forward to visiting my grandparents because I got a taste of farm life. I remember getting up early with my grandfather to slop the hogs, feed the cows, and collect eggs from the hen house and pick vegetables from the garden. Aside from the milk and the biscuits everything we had for breakfast was right from his farm. Keep in mind that if people didn't continue to farm we wouldn't have anything to eat. All of our meats, eggs, milk, fruits and vegetables come from farms.
As far as changes go, just like everything else the farming community has also been affected by technology. In the olden days people had to milk cows, plant seeds, plow, and irrigate their crops manually. Now, thanks to technology, they have machinery such as tractors, irrigation systems and other various farm epuipment to make their work faster and easier. I hope this helped. Peace and God bless.

1) After the end of the last Ice Age, around ten thousand years ago.
2) Farming feeds more people than hunting/gathering, so the human population began to grow; they built towns and cities; they devised legal codes; they invented new technologies; they travelled for trade and to find new places to live.

People started to farm so they didn't have to keep moving their families in search of food. They did not have to hunt and gather as their only means of obtaining food. They could store food for the winter and build more permanent housing.

Humans became to farm because we were evolving. As we were evolving, women started needing stability, so we needed to stay in one place. We can't stay in one place if we hunt, so we started farming. Also, it changed the course of history by not making us always go roaming. basically, it led us to technology.

The reason they started farming is because they needed food like we do now.
