Peterson was out (as seen on TV) and not given by Darrel hair on more then one ocassions and andrew strauss was clearly (caught behind)earlier in the match(as seen on TV)its not about the 5 runs it about accusing pakistanis of being cheats(and handing England undue advantage by changing the reverse swinging ball which pakistani are master at using,a secondry factor though and id't spark walkout),it has to stop somehwere and this racial disrimination stops Now!

I really feel sorry for inzimam and the rest of the team, it was so unfair, and you could really see it effected them alot and they were quite upset and angry. They should sack that umpire as they had problems of him before! About the question i would walk out for sure, they were playing well until this accusation. One would find it hard to concentrate with the thought lingering in thier mind...

I think if I'd been warned by the umpires after 20 minutes of refusing to play, I might have led my team out and retained the moral high ground. Unfortunately Pakistan did not, and lost whatever sympathy they might have gained - then again, the ball tampering rule is in place for a reason and it was the umpires opinion that the ball had been altered... their decision to make on the pitch....just as it was their opinion that Strauss was lbw to a ball pitching outside off stump and missing leg (as seen on TV)..... I'd rather have handed back the 5 runs and had Strauss back.

Let's look at it through a football analogy.

Imagine England are 3-0 up again Germany, three minutes before half time. Rooney's through on goal but appears to be tripped inside the area. He appeals for a penalty, but the referee decides he dived and instead shows Rooney (who has previously been booked - hasn't he always?) the red card.

The England team play on until half time but refuse to come out for the second half, incensed that Rooney has effectively been accused of cheating - and video replays seem to show that there was in fact contact. Would you back their action?

The penalty in the football case (playing 1 man short for 48 minutes) is probably harsher than the 5-run penalty Pakistan suffered yesterday, but England are still in a good position to win (as Pakistan were). But can you imagine it happening in football?

The Pakistanis may well have a case in terms of being punished unfairly, but the correct procedure of this it to complain to the match referee - say you'll take it to the ICC later if you want - but then GET ON WITH THE GAME.

In fact English cricket suffered the much greater penalty - the loss of 40% of 23,000 ticket sales, plus the whole of 12,000 sales for day 5. That's probably in excess of half a million pounds. Yet England were utterly blameless in this affair, whatever the truth about the "tampering".

I think there has been a massive overuse of the word "cheat". The umpire felt that the Pakistani team were guilty of breaking a law, and punished them for it. Players don't get all uppity if they claim a catch, but the umpire doesn't give it. That's the same as saying that the fielder is cheating. And there are plenty of other examples as well.

I will not definitely walk out, but continue to play. After the match I will lodge the complaint with the competent authority against the action of the Umpire and abide by the decision taken by the competent authorities

No, not when people have travelled long distances and paid to see the match and certainly not when my team were looking at an almost certain win.

An official complaint could have been made AFTER Pakistan sealed their win.

lol They've been doing this for 20 years. The ICC will probably change the rules like they did for Murali, because you can't have anybody being accused of cheating can you.

Mind you, Hair is his own worst enemy sometimes.
