There are better options that cost no more. For example, The Watchtower and Awake! are the first and second most widely circulated religious magazines in the world.
They are available from Jehovah's Witnesses at no charge. A selection of articles is available at their official website:

i wouldnt say its wrong but im sure they dont like it because that means you're not paying them more money! i just go to the checkout line first and look at it while im shopping make it appear like im gonna buy it but then i just kinda lay it somewhere. then you get a magaziine without the money. works for me!

No it not wrong to read a magazine that I havent brought. its not stealing. Some stores have the magazine w/plastic covers, so its the store problem not my curosities.

That's why they put them there ... it's a try before yo buy thing. Stores that don't want you to browse cover their magazines in shrink wrap ... or put up a sign.
