I can't even muster fake laughter when I watch new episodes of the Simpsons. It makes me sad because the show used to be so brilliantly funny! Who all agrees? Also, do you think the Simpsons movie will be funny?

The question wasn't do you like the Simpsons, it was do you like the new episodes compared to the older ones. Try answering that question. Thanks.

The 1st 4ish seasons of the Simpsons are TV CLASSICS!!! The show was a cartoon but was written in a realistic style and had HEART....any of the scripts could have been used for a regular live action sitcom with no problem.

Then they decided to drop the realism from the show...I don't know if it was in response to South Park's success or what. The show has had it's up and downs since then. I would say it is in a down cycle right now. It will NEVER get back to what it once was because that would involve totally retooling the show...

Also it is just harder to write that kind of stuff...having this ridiculous stuff that is not based in reality is much easier....though less satifying even when it IS funny.

I don't really care about the movie...I have a feeling it will be better than the average episode right now but I am not motivated to see a movie based on a show that is still on the air.

The Simpsons are ok yet but I do think they used to be funnier. I'm just kind of sick watching them because they're on acouple times a day on syndication.

I doubt the Simpsons movie will be funny, none of the other movies along that line have been.

Maybe you grew out of the simpsons. I used to think the simpsons was great. Now, not even the old episodes are funny to me anymore.

It may not be as funny as seasons 7 and 8, which were brilliant, but it is definitely still funny, and way better than the first few seasons, which I have never liked as much as the rest.

And I'm sure they are putting all the best jokes in the movie - they won't blow it.

It's kinda funny, but I can see why it's not as funny as it used to be, they are running out of idea's because they're trying to be the longest running show ever, they already signed a contract for the 20th season, and they need 22 seasons to be the longest running TV show ever. I can't wait for the movie!

Well, yeah, I do have to admit that the past few season's have been somewhat lacking compared to the middle seasons, but, being a die-hard Simpsons fan, I'll still watch them until they get canceled...or I die...whichever comes first. BTW, if you haven't got Season 8 on DVD yet, you have to get it NOW! It's hysterical!

the movie seems ok, but yeah, i kinda agree with you. the simpsons aren't that funny anymore. maybe its because there are barely any new episodes.

That show was never funny for one moment as far as I could see, just utterly stupid.
