Isn't there a subgenre that is so fast and insane that you can barely tell its metal (the sounds blend together)?

there is such a thing as speed metal. death metal is much better, brutal death metal is better. (death)grind is fast as well, but more in the vein of death than speed.. technical is usually not as fast as deathgrind, but is nicer than grind to listen to.

There isnt really an extreme metal genre because everyone has diffirent opinions.And by the way P.O.D are Nu-Metal basically Rap Metal (e.g Limp Bizkit,Papa Roach,Korn, Linkin park etc).I think you get the picture now lol.

Death Metal is thrashing, chaotica guitars combined with vocal roaring. It's usually non-melodic. Black Metal, however, is very melodic, intelligent, and gothic, but may sound similar to the untrained ear.
Death Metal is the heaviest type of 'Metal', but there is other crap out there that can't be called metal, such as "Thrash", "Grind", and such, which is literally chaos and shouting.

Syrene you are fukking stupid. Thrash metal can't be called metal? Death metal is not melodic but black metal is? WTF?!
Anyway, death metal and grindcore are both pretty extreme. I guess it depends on how your definition of extreme and it depends on the band. Some "extreme" bands: Prostitute Disfigurement, Severed Savior, Cryptopsy, Psycroptic, Carcass, Spawn of Possession, Napalm Death
