I have read both the Koran, the Bible and several tomes on Buddhism and various mutations of Hinduism.
In every case what I read was some wanker's socio-political-religious version of how HE would like the world to be run.
Always written by men, boring.
Always twisted to suit a particular viewpoint on life and stuff, boring more.
The truth is that all these prophets, sons of God or whatever came around about the same time in history (within a few hundred years of each other) and they all said, simply, "Stop Killing Each Other or We Will All Be Gone"
Then some old farts, always with big beards, rewrote the whole shebang so they could get more gold, more power, more everything while the rest of us exist in serfdom, working like dogs to pay THEIR freaking bills.
And so it is to this very day.
I myself have given up on such rubbish.
Even after living in Thailand for 12 years I can tell you that modern-day Buddhism is more about which temple has how much money than it is about humanity itself.
It all sucks.
