The world is run by stupid people, that's why we have it. No need go to a half hour change. Farmers can always just get up earlier. The idea was to save electricity, but that's dumb. The change in time just means that you trade turning on your lights in the morning for keeping them on shorter in the afternoon. It's just a dumb idea.

I agree that it is a completely stupid custom but it is there to allow us to get the maximum efficiency out of our day. The clock is moved from an extra hour form the morning to te evening to allow people to continu working and it is moved back during winter to give people an extra hour in the mornings away from the cold and to allow businesses to open at light. The idea was actually started in 1794 by Benjamin Franklin to help farmers work with daylight instead of against it. It also saves enegy and cuts down on electrical bills. ^_^ I hoep that's answered your question!!

The idea is to keep the time of sunrise more or less invariant throughout the year. Since in areas near the equator the time of sunrise does not vary so much, such areas are less likely to use daylight time; examples include Arizona, Hawaii, and Saudi Arabia.

The concept was created in order to maximize the amount of daylight during daytime hours.
I don't think your solution would really work.
Is changing the clock that hard for ya?
C'mon now. I'm sure it's not that bad....

That's a damn good question. We don't play the 'Daylight Savings Time' game here, in AZ, and we get by just fine. And our farmers don't lose their crops and our agricultural distribution system doesn't break down.

guess your not a farmer ..... or realize how important our agriculture is to our economy
because the SAVING of daylight helps them keep to a schedule of hours to work under sunlight, we change our clocks....
next time you don't want to change your clock, maybe the farmer will oversleep and not deliver the eggs, milk, dairy, vegetables, beef, poultry ..(do I have to go on....... )

I like your question and I think that it really does not make much of adifference and I think we should have some thing in between like half and hour so we don't have to change the time.

Imagine that w/ the world.
