My couson, her fiencee and their 2 children ages 6 and 13 are wanting to travel from North Carolina to Illinois to visit us for a few days. Does anyone know how to get a great deal on round trip train tickets? They want to stay for about a week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! May GOD bless you and Yours!!

I've always used Amtrak.com, they have last minute deals that can't be beat. Usually cheaper than any of the online travel sites like orbitz.com.
I had no problems getting my tickets.

Just keep in mind, you get a better deal when ordering 30 days or more in advance. And there used to be train passes too, which allowed you to get off and visit in 3 to 5 locations, only the dates have to be set, you can't easily change them.

You can find train tickets on line for most passenger lines, including Amtrak and commuter trains as well.I always try Amtrak first at http://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak
To use it, you have to know the names of the train stations which you can look up in a list ie "Raleigh, NC (RGH)"Chicago - Union Station, IL (CHI)"
Check out: http://www.narprail.org/cms/index.php
The National Association of Rail Passengers which gives a 10% discount on Amtrak fares to members.
Here's something on North Carolina rail passenger service. http://www.cwrr.com/Amtrak/e_caroli.html
