if a potential employer calls a past job the only thing they are allowed to say is yes they worked here, give the dates, and say wether or not they would hire you back. they aren't allowed to say anything bad about you, or say anything that would keep you from gaining employment.
i think i misread your question...if you mean can they tell other employees you were fired, no. other employees that KNOW can spread it around but they aren't supposed to tell if asked, and if they know already and want to ask why, they aren't allowed to tell either. is that what you wanted to know?

Depends on which state you live in since the laws vary by state.

what do you mean? Do you have to be notified if you are going to be fired? Do you have a contract of employment or an offer letter?
Also what state are you in?

I think it depends on whether you're in a union or not. Like if you are they have to give you a written letter or whatever. I'm not real sure. Try google.
