Do you think there has been any attempt to rig these machines?
We've all read the news reports about the public not being allowed to know how they work, no paper trail, etc. But is there a real risk here?

The machines are not the problem the PEOPLE who run them are. That is why we need a paper trail.

I trust the PAPER voting system and I will trust the electronic voting machines too...I just don't trust people to be smart enough to use either. It really isn't a hard concept to grasp, you would think.

The public IS "allowed" to know how they work! I was at the grocery store yesterday and had someone from the Elections Board come up to me and explain the process and take me to a sample voting machine in the front of the store. It is a good campaign to teach people. Now whether or not they are secure enough...it is the GOVERNMENT that is controlling this...chances are...they aren't secure and we'll be hearing of MANY flaws in the upcoming months.

Here in Venezuela we use a machine in where you put your finger so the machine records your finger print so people don't vote twice.
After that there is a machine like a computer, in where you chose the option for which you wish to vote and after you chose it prints a paper with what you chose, you check it and put it in a box.

I'm only 14 so I can't vote, but I do trust in those machines.

The last few elections they have used them in my town. They seem ok. I wouldn't have the slightest way of know if they were rigged, though. But then again, the same could be said for the older style voting machines as well.
Who knows.

what the foolish fail to realize is that more traditional lever voting machines do not give the user a receipt, so anyone using that reasoning is just repeating a silly talking point they heard from someone else.

Keep doing what the tv tells you and see where it gets you suckers.

I have wondered if there was a way to get to these things. I have voted with them 3 times and every time I think I would like to go back to the old voting booths. I am not one of these people who sees conspiracy around every corner , but in this case I think if it was not broke don't fix it.

Do I trust them?--I trust them to be RIGGED, *lol*. :P

Is there a real risk? Duh. Follow the money...look at who owns Diebold, and who's been handing out states like party favors.

Really. This is such a non-question it boggles my mind, but *nooo*, some folks just aren't happy with physical evidence, oh no, or good solid journalism.

Ok, I'd best shut up on this one, I can feel my "obnoxious machine" revving up past redline on this one....

Forget about "rigged" election machines. What about "rigged" Supreme Court rulings?
