I am finished with kids and have finally lost all the weight. The weight has been gone for over 6 months and I have now decided I have no choice but to go for the tummy tuck. (Not my favorite choice) But I'm wondering if there is a place to go to get recomendations on a board certified doctor? Is there a place that lists such things, and how do you go about researching this kind of thing? I DO NOT want some yahoo doing this surgery but have no idea how to get started on this. I don't know anyone who has had any surgeries of this kind done in my area. Any suggestions?

I would recommend contacting some local hospitals or surgery centers and asking them for names of plastic surgeons who use their facilities on a regular basis. You see, although plastic surgeons have their own offices, they don't do a surgery this big in an office; they use a local hospital, as well as their staff, to perform surgeries like this. Of course, YOU end up paying for it as well, but you are in a very safe environment with ample resources around if there is any sort of complication.
So, contact a hospital. They will be able to give you names, and you KNOW that they wouldn't let some "half-qualified" person use their facilities...they could end up with lawsuits if the person was botching up surgeries! I would NOT go to a plastic surgeon who did a surgery like this in their own "clinic!" And visit at least 2 plastic surgeons to get prices and a "feel" for them. You should feel comfortable with them, because there are "post-surgery" visits, so you'll be seeing them numerous times.

look in the directory under surgeon plastic and look for certified doctor
