Kieran is an Irish name, the proper way is I before E, you could also spell it Ciarán...
Just one more point, it is not another way to spell Karen as people may think, it is a MALE name, and is pronounced Keer-an.

I like Kieran better.
Is it like an alternative spelling of Karen?
It's really nice. Kieran sounds and looks pretty, and much better than Karen. It's in the subtleties! :)

I sometimes really wish parents would STOP with the crazy spellings of common names. When kids learn to spell, and go to kindergarten, then they start spelling things all crazy and phonetically instead of how things are supposed to be spelled. It's sad how many people still have horrible spelling skills, and it doesn't look good when filling out job and college applications and resumes if you don't know how to spell properly.
