How can I find out which type of network wireless adapter I have? I have a new Dell desktop and am having some trouble getting it to work with my WRT54G Linksys router. Any help is appreciated--thanks!

Right click my computer, select properties, then hardware, device manager, then expand network adapters, it will be listed in there with your nic. If it isn't listed in there then you don't have one. If you buy one get a usb model, they are very easy to install, simply install the software, then plug the adapter into any usb port. The consult the manual for establishing a connection to any available wireless network.

Dell has an 800 # for support. if it's a new laptop, call them. they'll ask you for like 30 digits off the bottom of the thing, but they'll tell you what you have and how to get the driver's and such.

It can also depend on how your wireless router is configured, may not let you on w/o knowing your MAC address for example.

There 3 prevalent sorts N G and B. N is the fastest B is the slowest. to verify a prompt equipment you'll choose a prompt router and correctly perfect adapter. in case you get a G router you want G adapters.
