Don't millions of people do exactly that without nothing happening to them?

You won't get sued! It is highly unlikely they'll sue you. Generally, the cost of the lawsuit far exceeds the amount they can win. Because companies lose money taking customers to court, they generally don't do take people to court.

Companies usually go after the distributors that sells pirated materials instead.

No, not generally.

They tend to only come after businesses that would be using an illegal version on like every computer they have. They generally don't care about the "little guy".

In the courtroom.. if it ever was to happen... it is considered illegal.

Yet, as you said, millions of people pirate softwares. There are no exact ways to track one who downloads it... but if you were to somehow ever get caught distributing... you would be sued.

Don't think you will not get sued just because millions have not. I've knowen of people that get busted when others go free.

It's funny cause we discussed this question at school last year. If someone really wanted to catch u they could. U leave ur internet providor info when u download, using that they can ask ur providor to give out ur name and adress. They don't even need to see if u have the program installed on ur pc. Ur ip will lead them to ur internet providor and he will lead them to u!!

If you want to take that risk then you can. You can get a free limited version from adobe for it though, if that interests you.
