It really depends on how much cash your willing to fork-over. iPods are definetly overrated(in my opinion). The more space (Gb's), the more $$$, a good player with about 5gb, will set you back an easy $130.
Personally, I have a Creative Zen MicroPhoto 8gb-$180,eek-, but I love it! Store around 3000 songs, and 600 pictures. Color OLCD screen (new generation LCD lights, brilliant color!), great sound quality, playlist capability, Window's Media capability, adjustable-sencitive touchpad, photo slideshows, FM radio, organizer, great battery life. I used my old mp3 everyday, and it just couldnt do what i wanted. My Creative is amazing. I love everything about it, but one thing(minor flaw), theres no way to play music while viewing your pictures. Oh well...
The COLOR OLCD screen is amazing. I take pictures of everything and put them on my player, and actaully can choose my background (my own photo, which is vibrant and colorful), it comes out in full color and vibrance on the player. However the 2½" screen isnt the best viewing method, its still amazes! There are also multiple color schemes to choose from to accent your players functions, headings, and songs.
The touchpad, if not used to, can be frusterating at times, but I got the hang of it in no time. Theres also 3 setting you can personalize it to.
It locks to prevent and skipping if and while in your pocket.
Its very thin, about 3/5".
It is $180-ish, but definately worth it! I've had mine for about a year now, and theres not a scratch on it, and the warenties cover everything!

CD gamers i'm no longer waiting for an ipod or mp3 participant yet... per chance at the same time as i'm 40 in the journey that they are not old through then (i'm 29). I easily have had my digicam for 3 years and there remains likely a gaggle of stuff i do not comprehend a thanks to do with it yet. Texting, making telephone calls, and taking photos is fairly a lot all i visit do with my cellular telephone. i do not want to conflict through each and each of the problem of downloading songs basically to hearken to them every time everywhere without the skipping or scratching.

If your going 1gb, you're better off buying Sony, as the battery power is much better.
