a friend just gave me her ginny pig any advice on what to do .i have a hampster but it's nothing like a hampster.

I love guinea pigs!!!! I just got one myself and there great here is what helped me with my guinea pigs!!! Ill tell u what i can remember and ill give u a few websites!!!
they need a big cage!!! They are best if two females live together!! 2 males will fight and a male anda female will give you way more piggies than you can count!!! They have to be fed and given water once a day!! They love lots of attention!!! And in their cage they need a place to hide!!! On the bottom of their cage you dont want wire because eventually they will have problems on the bottom of their feet!!! Oh yea and they dont have tails!!! That is pretty much the basics!!! They pee and poop alot, if for any reason you don't see the usual amount it could be health problem. Also, don't be scared if you see them eating there poop its good for them.

Other advice for them is:
-Since they are prey animals they don't show illness till it reaches a certain degree so please make sure that you learn there normal behavior.
-When looking for a pig, try first adopting one. For the sake of the animal... I suggest petfinder.com
-Hold the pig(s) alot and hand feed them veggies so they get use to you.
-They need veggies and fruits every day once a day.
What I give my pigs is as followed:
-Kale
-Tomatoe
-Carrot(Baby ones are easier)
-Orange
Also make sure when giving them water it is in a water bottle that is 16 oz. I put some vitamin C supplement in the water (by the measurment of the bottle).
They need the vitamin C because they cannot produce there own, it is very important they get this every day to prevent scurvey and other illnesses related to lack of vitamin C.
-Never give them those balls, or wheels. It is bad for there back and feet.
-When also getting or making a cage, make sure it has a solid bottom not wire or mesh its bad on there feet.

easy put her in its cage,refil her water every day and a good type of food for them is forti-diet also give her timathy hay or lettuce in the mornings.take her outside every once in a while. also get her an igloo from super pet.its a place for her to sleep at night or to hide.

u have to get a bigger cage, dont think they run on a wheel or anything,. put shavings in the bottom of the gage, and they have different food then hamsters i believe; like lettuce and that type thing
