Pretty soon. Usually starts sometime between the 5th and 6th months.
My wife is 17 weeks and we're still waiting for the first kick.
A good book to read is, "What to expect when you're expecting."

I didn't feel anything 'til about 5 months - where you are now - and didn't even realize what it was a t first.
It's like a fluttering sensation. The baby's too small to feel it majorly; but don't worry, you'll really feel it soon enough!
Here, I found a link:
"Quickening and Fetal Movement
The mother may be able to feel the movement of the fetus for the first time. This is a phenomenon called quickening and is typically felt by the end of the 5th month. On average, quickening is felt first between the 18th and 22nd weeks. Variations are normal and women who have had a baby before are likely to experience movement earlier. This is probably because she knows what to expect and because her uterine muscles are more lax, making it easier to feel a kick. This fluttering will give way to actual movement and kicking, which is normally felt by the end of the 7th month."

A first time mom may not feel "movement" until about 22-25 weeks. You can however feel flutters but the strong kicks and movement wont take place for a little longer. I am on baby number three and am 20 weeks and still havent felt strong movement yet. I can feel her move but not enough that someone else can really tell yet.

Remember sometimes it takes longer for some women to feel fetal movements than others. Especially if this is your first pregnancy. Remember he or she is still very tiny. :o)
I would suggest a couple things.
1. Do not always listen to others and their opinions. Especially if it is bothering you in some way.
2. Discuss your concerns with your midwife or doctor.
At this point "feeling" fetal movements can be only a slight flutter, so slight you may not realize your feeling it, movements can also be spuratic. You may feel something and then not for a few days.
Take a deep breath mama. It won't be long and you will be getting kicked and punched so often you will begin to believe you're a punching bag!
Best wishes!

You will probably start to feel the baby soon. It comes later on in your first pregnancy. After the 1st you feel it sooner and sooner. I think it has something to do with relaxed muscles over time. Your muscles are stretching from this being your first. As long as your Dr appts. are going well and there is a strong heartbeat you have nothing to worry about! Stress and worrying are not good for you . When the little one starts to punch and kick you, you'll wish it never started!!!! Good Luck!!

Many women with first pregnancies do not notice quickening, or first movements, until around 20 weeks. It may be even longer than that beofre you feel kicks and bumps. First movements can feel an awful lot like gas bubbles! Experienced moms tend to feel movement around 14-15 weeks. Just be patient! Anytime now! Good luck!

You probably wont be able to feel anything that you can be certain is a kick until you are between 4 and 5 months. When you feel the first one you will definately know it. However some woman feel their babies sooner for some reason. I guess it all just depends on the baby.

I was pregnant with twins the first time around and I did not feel them move until i was around 24 or 25 weeks pregnant. Everyone is different.. My second pregnancy I felt at 18 weeks and my 3rd around 17 weeks.. You will soon feel those precious little twinges and then those sometimes slightly painful kicks...
Congratulations!

you should definitely go get a prenatal check up honey to make sure you and the baby are doing fine. depending if your 11 weeks you might feel a little flutter nothing more, but if your 19 weeks you can feel the baby move alot more it just depends on the baby.try this lay flat on your back for 10-20minutes and just see if the baby moves around.

It;s not necessarily true that you should know when you have felt the baby move,so early in pregnancy it is a very subtle feeling like the feeling of a little butterfly in the tummy area.Like i said it is a very light feeling but soon you will feel little, soft kicks-it is a wonderful feeling! Good luck and have fun with your baby!! :) Angel

I think you better consult your OB GYn about that if you are not so comfortable about that. I suggest since that is your first pregnancy better have a monthly check up. If the heartbeat is normal, then you should not worry if it's not moving because maybe the baby is sleeping or at rest.
