explicit lyrics or sexual content? Does it bother or embarss you? Do you think that the artist and producers go way over the top? It's like they're pushing the envelope to see how much they can get away with? Eventually, the bleeps that you hear won't exist anymore. I see a day coming where it's going to be the norm. What do you think? Think of your children. Trust me, todays kids see more and hear more than they should.

not good for kids

Songs with explicit lyrics do not bother me or embarass me. It is up to the parents to decide what their children listen to and nobody else. If you tell your kid that they can't do something it makes them want to do it even more. If you explain to them why you don't like then maybe there is hope. But when you come from a family of my size (25 first cousins alone) you are around the explicitness of everything. As long as you tell your child that it is okay for adults to say things like that and not them everything should work out and if they end up saying the bad words then you ground them. Yes I agree they probably do see more than they should but that is because the parents out there are not doing their job.

First of all, it depends on the context in which these things are used. Some use things as pure shock value to generate sales which is worthless. But some people use those things because thats how they choose to express their feelings in their chosen artform. It all depends on how you raise your kids. If you let music, video games, television, internet, etc raise your kids, then its your fault, plain and simple. If its something that your kid manages to get ahold of beyond your supervision, then it is your job to explain to your child what he or she heard, whichever way you decide to approach the issue. But bottom line is that I don't think we should hinder someone's creative work because its not appropriate for children who may not be mature enough to understand it. These things are made for mature people and those people should not be subjected to absurd censorship because people can't raise their kids right. Would you also not allow movies to be made if they were rated R? I have a passion for movies but I wouldn't if all I ever saw was pg-13 rated movies. But lets not stop there, how about we censor Shakespeare while we're at it? Shakespeare has the most mature themes in literature, murder, hate, incest, war, revenge, and Shakespeare is required reading in most high schools. What makes that so much better? The fact that it's written in a language that is difficult to understand for most kids, and many of their parents for that matter? You should stop worrying about what other people are doing and worry more about what you're doing.

It is true ...and you are absolutely right it isn't good for kids, but the reality of it is ....our children learn things that are worse that that from their schoolmates on the playground..all of these things are already the "norm" ...cartoons curse ..."regular" programming on television contain much material that really none of us should be watching unless we rented it from an adult video store...ya' feel me. I have children that go to school and there is alot of questions that they ask me about based on things that they have talked about with their friends ...and they are not quite sure if the information that they have gotten from their friends is correct or not ...I just thank God that they ask me about it instead of thinking what their friends have told them is correct.....I don't think that alot of things that take place in this world today are right .....lines have been crossed for years now...and things only get pushed further and further.......God help us all !!!!!!

If that's the way the singer wants to express himself/herself, then I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. Hey, if you don't like it, don't listen. Simple as that.

Music with explicit content is not meant for children. If somehow it ends up on their Ipods, isn't that the parents fault? You can't hardly blame the artist!

While it's definitely not the main influence you'd want your kids to have for sexual knowledge, and the producers of it are just doing it to exploit our strongest most basic motivators, it's important that we have as much free speech as possible. We'll need the momentum later if it ever starts being taken from us.
