think that because i have white pride tattooed on my arms that i am a racist?
there is a differance between white pride and white power.
if a latino can have brown pride or a black man can have black pride and not be a racist then why not me? i am no racist but i do have pride in my race just as i should have.

I am not sure how i feel about the whole white pride subject.
i don't know you, or your motives.

But here is what i do know,

Concepts like brown pride and black pride are reactions to racism and slavery and colonialism. Historically they have not been in postitions of power, but instead white or europeans have colonized them whether in africa or latin america

I guess the power of the slogan BLACK is BEAUTIFUL was lost on many people who weren't black, if you can't understand why this statement is empowering was and is empowering both historically and politically then there is much background history to cover.

White pride then would be a recation to other groups empowering themselves. As the white people have maintained the power and influence i would see it as a reassertion of dominance. but this is an opinion without knowing you.

so in short your tatto could be taken for an affirmation of white rule and dominace, as if in reaction to the america becoming less white.

my second opinion would have been your a klan member, but i don't know you.

thanks.

Black pride, brown pride, white pride, purple pride -- it's all nonsense. Did you choose your race at birth? Does it inherently make you better than anyone? Then what are you proud of? How does your accidental skin color reflect on you as a person in any way?

It's a stupid statement from anyone of any color. If you want to be proud, go do something to be proud of.

The term is controversial -- many believe it implies racism. It was coined and is used as a slogan by a number of white supremacist organizations.

Movements like black pride and Latino pride represent affirmations of self-worth and solidarity on the part of oppressed minorities — whereas white pride represents an attempt to reinforce the very hierarchies that gave rise to that oppression.

Ideas like "white pride" and "white nationalism" often exist merely to provide a sanitized public face for white supremacism.

u know what ur totally right, its the same if u were wearing a flag or soccer jersey of ur country, as long as ur not rasict there is no reason u cant have what u want on ur body, white power and white pride are different, but just word "white pride" differently people are easily confused

That's a great question.
It comes from our history- unfortunately white people don't have a great track record , it wasn't that long ago that slavery was abolished. If black people had white slaves it might be the opposite today. Because of history your tattoo could make it sound like pride could mean "better than".

In theory it's not rasict anyhow. It's just how people are these days. Many people are sensitive to any discussion of race and/or culture. Also, people (espicially caucasians) are more easily judged upon when they discuss race. For some reason cultural groups tend to take more offence to that. You should be able to have pride with yourself! Anyway, it doesn't matter seeing as you can do whatever you like to your body!

I think we should have pride in our heritage, race, religion, etc. It helps us remember where we came from. So, I know what you mean. It's like as long as you realize that your heritage is no better and no worse than others.' I agree, taking pride isn't the same as believing that your race, nationality, etc. is best. You are just proud of where you came from.

Are you that perplexed by this? Of course people would think you are a racist. The majority of people who have white power/pride tatooed anywhere are racist. Assuming is a human thing. You're the one who decided to have it tatooed on your arm. I'm sure you knew some of the consequences, so deal with it.
