Damn, you already have more than 50 responses. I wondered what type of question would get people fired up.
Maybe you are talking about zealots, who want to beleive everything exactly and who want to force their idealogy onto others. Those people seem mentally dull quite often.

Actually I am a Christian and have an IQ of 140 and I do not believe that that is lower than everyone else. You appear to have some prejudice towards Christians. If you feel that Jesus is an imaginary friend read further and perhaps you will change your mind.

Because Jesus loves them. And you're wrong. Priests are smart... they must use their intelligence in steering the others away from realizing that they are being made fools of. Just kidding...
I am an atheist but I understand and respect (at least i try to respect) religious people. Their principles are very good: promoting love, peace, helping the ones in need and stuff. But there are many things that the Church has done wrong:
The Spanish Inquisition. Killing all those great minds and holding us back (technologically speaking) for what? For that "Earth is the center of the Universe" stuff? Killing tens of thousands (if not more) women just because they dared to think and not just be women (in the middle age sense of the word woman)? Oh yeah... sorry. I forgot, they were witches... Why doesn't any of the Church officials comment on that? - And please don't give me the "it was the catholic, not the Christians" stuff. You're the same (at least to me): the same God, the same Jesus... -
Many Gospels were destroyed. NOT BY THE ROMANS!!! But by the early High Priests (or whatever the Christians call them). They were destroyed because they contained whole story and they thought that people in that time period couldn't handle the truth. So they basically lied to everyone about what really happened.
These and others made me lose my faith in the Church. And God... does not exist. At least not in the way they see it. But they got one thing right about Him. He's in each and every one of us. It's called common sense. You don't need to do good deeds to please God. You do them because I feel it is the right thing to do.
I understand your opinion. As long as they lower themselves to believing in supernatural beings, like ancient people did, you might think there is something wrong with their IQ.

Really? Do you honestly believe that, just because someone has a belief in the Christian God that they are qutomatically intellectually deficient?
Maybe you'd better check out groups like Mensa, members of which are all in the top 2% of IQ scores around the world, and determine just what percentage of those folks are also Christian, before you make such sweeping generalizations.
Then poll all your atheist friends, and determine the similar characteristics.
I'd be willing to bet that you'll find the percentages of intellectually gifted and intellectually stilted people will be pretty similar in the two sample populations.
In the meantime, why not try trolling your idiocy in other forums?

I wouldn't say that Christians as a group have lower IQ's then anyone else. Obviously some of them will though. I don't really understand a lot of religious stuff, because believing in something that you can't see, hear or feel seems a bit strange to me, but whatever makes people happy I suppose.

How would you even know whether or not Christians have lower IQ's? Have you gone out and had every Christian take an IQ test and then every atheist and every agnostic, not to mention every Jew and every Muslim, and every person of every other faith and compared them with Christian IQ's? Unless you've done that you wouldn't even know that Christians have lower or higher IQ's. And I have to say, some of the smartest people I've known have been dedicated Christians. And right now one of the stupidest people I know is an atheist.

If I thought their IQ was so terribly low, I would consider them to be "non-events" and not even take them into consideration in anything I do. Sort of the way I totally disregard the occasional bugs I see in my garage.
However, if I think there might be a reason to be concerned, I pay a lot of attention. For example, a tornado warning in my hometown would be a cause for concern even if I generally pay no attention to the weather.
It seems that your subconcious is very much aware that you should be paying attention to this "Christian thing" or else you too would be totally ignoring it instead of asking questions such as this.

Look, I'm an atheist and I view the Christ story as sheer fantasy. However, all religions are fantasy, and at least the Christian religion preaches good things and contains very little hatred (the Mel Gibsons of this world are a drunkard exception). So in my book Christians have a high IQ and your 'data' are incorrect.

I examine via all the solutions and all and sundry has a severe end I.Q, that's traumatic extremely. If it is what clever people do with there spare time, i'm extremely dissatisfied. I genuinely think of that I.Q exams are a waste of time. they do no longer instruct actual intelligence. I, to illustrate in basic terms did 2 years at severe college. tremendously plenty failed each thing, shouldn't I also have a low I.Q. properly I are available in at around one hundred forty+.

whatever one's position, i think it's a little silly to postulate that christians have lower iqs than everyone else. this question makes no sense unless it's designed to collect people for your bandwagon or incite the christians to rebut however they see fit.
either way, i guess it's a bit more interesting than 'how do i get my room to smell like an abercrombie and fitch,' but the argument is pretty specious.
