Normal everyday Irish gestures are not very much different to those in the United States but the Irish are not very physically demonstrative and are not comfortable with public displays of affection and respect reserved behavior in others. Western Europeans generally prefer an 'intimate distance' of 20-30 cms (8-12inches).
A "Reverse V for victory" gesture is considered obscene.

Not as many gay people in Ireland i find so a little less touchy feely. However irish people are still warm and friendly. Think more "macho." More of a relaxed environment aswell, Irish people dont have a need to be as, well posh, and image concious. xx
