how to socialize with our new hamster so it wont bite?

Question

we just got a hamster, its pretty young, it does bite when we pick it up, we leave it alone when sleeping and are very careful to not hurt it when we do pick it up. we asked at the pet store and they said to just keep picking it up and it will eventually stop biting and get used to it. . . just not sure on that, it likes us petting it while its still in the cage, so we are doing that for now untill we ask a few other places too

builld a pen for it and put it in thea and play with it so it gets used to you
